RMIT need to remained attuned to future changes in specific industries – ensuring we are teaching our students not only the current state of play, but also where an industry is moving to next. RMIT clearly has deep and sophisticated expertise on sustainable cities and how contemporary challenges might be addressed. Just as important as the expertise itself is our capacity to facilitate learning partnerships amongst city stakeholders, and to do so as honest and ethical brokers, able to link together government, industry, and civil society with education and research.
We have a track record of doing so not only amongst Australian cities, large and small, but also internationally. International urban diplomacy is becoming an important means of sharing new insights into the role of cities in achieving the United Nations’ Global Agenda to 2030. RMIT can help to make this happen.
