I would love to see some concise summaries of RMIT-wide expertise and engagement with particular countries. Can we have an intranet page on each country that lists what we we currently do there ? Who is doing research there, who is running study tours, what programs do we run, what partner universities do we have. It doesn't need to be detailed information, just links to further information/people. This could do a lot to increase visibility and help us build on what is already happening. See less

To pick up on the China discussion – consider focus around Victoria's highly active sister- state relationship with Jiangsu Province. Also the City of Melbourne's sister-city relationship with Tianjin. And then aligning with the priorities of those provincial govts in the market. See less

China is too big a market to have one strategy. the better approach would be to prioritise key strategic markets and based on feedback that i have got there are a couple of areas, these being, education and healthcare.
EDUCATION MARKET
• China government is placing a strong emphasis on improving fundamental learning otherwise known as Early Learning Childcare (ELC) or Primary and Secondary level in China
• Post Covid 19, China Government will continue to send Deputy Principals and Head Teachers (teachers at senior level identified to take on future leadership roles) however, it is likely to be blended learning (online and face-to-face) to minimise costs
• EE has extensive experience in delivering adult learning programs to Principals and Head Teachers for both the China and Vietnam market
• Secondary market is the VET sector as there is an overlap between Secondary and VET sector
HEALTHCARE MARKET
Agecare and wellbeing is a big opportunity See less
SCALE & IMPACT

I think we need to work on positioning as he 'expert on Asia' in Melbourne/Australia. we need to build up our global networks in Melbourne and Australia, and position as an adviser to Government/industry on their engagement in the region. See less

Focusing on embedding ourselves in the communities in which we operate – through projects and engagements that champion social innovation, collaboration and responsive public policy reform – will enable RMIT to strengthen our position as a global leader in the region and scale our positive impact beyond our direct programs and offerings. There are great entrepreneurship ambitions in Vietnam – which could also offer a landing pad for Australian companies in Asia (or a reciprocal exchange).

Success follows when we see ourselves as a global university in the region, rather than an Australian university operating in certain countries. And success follows when we foster local connections and engage in and understand the socio-economic eco systems around us, rather than operate in isolation. See less
