Edited:I was so bored in classes and during workshops. Is it all my responsibility to shift my mindset? How much responsibility goes into training staff on designing their learning programs with 'show v tell' format? This is a universal learning design shift right now. Let's be the first university in Aus to ensure that EVERY staff (lecturers, staff, career teams) shift to LXD & HCD. Or pair them up with someone who can help shape it to 'showv tell' formats. To kick start, train them in engagement tactics!! Then, how do you measure its success? …add in an 'agile' continuous improvement strategy (360 feedback – get the students to give the feedback on staff 'show' performance, use the data, get external expert facilitators to make it easier and then, reward and celebrate the creativity of staff/lecturers). It will draw in the best teachers in the country/world and… the world most grateful students 😉 Note: I think RMIT is doing a great job. I acknowledge the achievement to move an entire university structure online. Well done for an incredible move forward. Im proud to be an Alumni (and recently staff). Keep it up! See less
staff not being committed outside of class time due to the casual nature of their jobs, make them full time
Hybrid learning takes a while to adapt too. It will feel strange when students return to campus.
online learning and disengaged + disinterested tutors/lecturers
Seen a lot of people stressed out by being dead named by online learning platforms
Re-discovering my passion for my degree, and feeling connected to it

I want trauma-informed care in my education. I want to see TIC added to the D&I strategy. What if it's part of the 1st years 'preparing for study skills' courses, or if lecturers and careers consultants get it to so they can help to remind other students like me. Trauma affects my ability to study some days. Yet, when I first started I didn't get that my PTSD is a trauma response ie. fight it, flight it, freeze, appease, dissociate. I just 'thought' I wasn't good enough. That it was my fault. Well, it's not really. It is my brain. Teach the neuroscience behind i.e. its nervous system triggered by my amygdala etc. EQ self-management techniques are a part of employability soft skills. I want it taught so that I can be the best I can be in my time at RMIT. It's not a scary topic. It's an EMPOWERING one! We tick boxes to do with climate change, with indigenous needs (rightly so!). What about wellbeing trauma education and its impact on studying!? Now that's holistic education! That's cutting edge! See less
