We have posed the challenge for our Student Life teams in Australia and Vietnam to see if we can create a student club (or community) that exists across our Australian and Vietnam campuses. An esports club would work, and we recently ran a global Bust-a-groove dance competition – but how far can we take this? See less

we do a lot of thought leadership with our academics and industry partners. i think we should also have student-led thought leadership forums, where they have an opportunity to get their voice out there. Instead of fostering the idea that students are "receivers" of knowledge, we should give them the opportunity to lead the creation of knowledge See less
Rethink degree structure so we can embed common core courses with a global/industry experience in the first year of degrees.
Create courses that can be relevant for different degrees
Use our partnership with Riipen to create online internships overseas (in addition to cohort based IPOL experiences embedded into curriculum)

We can collect the sharing and feedback from our returnees besides running a mass survey with all students across the campuses.
Create a special "think tank" from our GLP grads. They are often primed to continue their journey

Speak to the students – online survey, social media polls or when face to face have causal chats with students to listen and learn to what they want out of RMIT.
Seek advocacy and participation through teaching channels, segmenting response and discussion focus on one topic at a time.
Observe and survey global experience participants to share their views and aspirations.

4 Dec, 2020 Report Report Reply ReplyIf sustainability is key for students, then virtual is the way of the future (given mobility isn't terribly sustainable in terms of the carbon footprint).

The focus on local connections is very important so that we encourage global experiences for students where they are connecting with and learning from that community, rather than the perception of students "helping" locals (especially in developing nations) See less

Further to this comment, I would say that rather than being "student-centric" we should be community and environment-centric. By focusing on how RMIT is delivering value to the communities in which we operate, and our commitment to global sustainability, this will have flow on effects for the benefit of our students See less
